InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the launch of InterContinental Lisbon- Estoril in Portugal. The signing of this hotel to the brand comes just a few months after the opening of InterContinental Lisbon and is the now the company’s third property in Portugal, highlighting the extent of tourist appeal to this sophisticated resort.

InterContinental Lisbon-Estoril is located to the west of Lisbon’s city centre in the affluent town of Estoril. The area is a popular one with tourists and is most famous for the nearby the town of Cascais, the popular Guincho beach, numerous golf courses and Sintra Mountain.

In fact, it has gained the nickname of the “Coast of Kings”, as Estoril has been home to many royals inclusing the Spanish royal family, Humberto II of Italy, King Carol II of Romania, and Admiral Nicholas Horthy de Nagybánya, the Regent of the Kingdom of Hungary. It is also a popular destination for celebrity “royalty” attracted to its beaches, casinos, historical buildings and gastronomic culture.
