The Avios Airmiles Value Tracker has named Palma, the capital of Mallorca, as the top golfing destination in Europe. The survey has named its top ten golfing hotspots and goes on to reveal that property prices near these top destinations are holding or even gaining in value, second only to seafront property.

With golf attracting an affluent crowd, a property by a course can be a lucrative investment, offering proximity to the facilities for fans of the sport and a wealth of other activities for those who’d rather not pace the fairways, for example shops, bars and spas.

Figures from over 3,000 estate agencies specialising in homes in Spain show that fans of the sport are usually prepared to push their budget to secure a quality destination for their getaways.

The Costa Blanca, Tenerife, Gibraltar, Costa del Sol, Lisbon and Algarve also scored highly in the survey.
