With the European Commission recently forecasting Italy’s economic growth at 0.6% for this year, and a further increase of 1.4% in 2016, attention has fallen on one of the major contributing factors, namely external demand and investment. Tourism from overseas visitors in particular has become a key element in the country’s economic recovery.

The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index 2015 highlights the significance of Italy’s growing tourism industry, as the country jumped from 26th in 2013 to 8th in the global league table. The report puts Italy amongst the best in the world on digital demand for culture and entertainment, as well as natural tourism.
