A number of new routes have been opened up between the UK and Europe as airlines respond to increased demand from holidaymakers and second home owners.

Norwegian has announced two new route connections to the UK, with flights from Madrid and Málaga to Birmingham International. Thomas Ramdahl, a senior executive at Norwegian, said: “We’re very happy to celebrate the new routes from Birmingham to several destinations in Spain. Now travellers in the greater Birmingham area can take advantage of Norwegian’s low fares and award-winning service. Our crew is looking forward to welcoming new customers on board our brand new and more environmentally friendly fleet of 737-800s with free Wi-Fi.”

Monarch Airlines increased its roster of flights from Leeds-Bradford with the addition of two new routes: three flights per week to Alicante, and two per week to Naples in southern Italy.

British Airways recently launched a London to Bilbao route with improved cabins offering extra space and a higher level of comfort.
